The Library building is open to the public with modified hours and limited capacity and services.

Library building hours are:

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays:  10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wednesdays and Fridays:              10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturdays:                                          10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Contactless Holds Pickup has ended. You are able to enter the library building to pick up your holds.
For the health and safety of library staff and users:
  • There will be limits on how many people can be in the building at one time.
  • Seating and tables are extremely limited to help maintain social distancing.
  • Only two public Internet stations will be available for use by CHPL card holders only. These computers will be available for use one hour per day per person by appointment only.
  • The meeting rooms will not be available for groups to rent.
  • The Youth Department’s iPads and toys will be unavailable for use.
  • Newspapers will be inaccessible.
  • The drinking fountain will be turned off and there will be no complimentary coffee served.
  • The elevator is limited to one person/family at a time.
  • Patrons will not be allowed to study or hang out in the library for prolonged periods in order to limit exposure and contact.

When you visit the library, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
  • Wear a face covering or mask at all times. If you cannot medically wear a mask, reasonable accommodations can be arranged with notice.
  • Maintain social distancing of at least six feet apart.
  • Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer often.
  • Children under age 13 must be directly supervised by an adult.
  • If you feel unwell, or are consistently coughing or sneezing, please stay at home.
  • Keep your visit to 60 minutes or less.

  • The book drop is open. Feel free to return library items. Returned items are no longer being quarantined before being checked in. 

  • All materials checked out during the Limited Walk-In Services Phase of Reopening will have a 3 week loan period.
