Explore all the new services available to you free through the latest addition to our offerings--inkie.org. Users can:

  • Create books using Pressbooks software.  Pressbooks makes it easy to create a professional ebook for you to share with family and friends (maybe a family memoir), or to share more widely...
  • Share your work for potential inclusion in the online Indie Illinois collection or Library Journal's Indie Author Project Select collections of ebooks. You may also enter the Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Project portal.
  • Read ebooks by independently published local authors, ebooks that have been reviewed and recommended by the professionals at Library Journal and more.

Beginning December 10, you'll need your SWAN PIN to sign in to Hoopla. It's easy to do!  Here are instructions for iOS, Android and Web access. As always, please call us if you're having any trouble and we'll be glad to walk you through it.

Explore More Illinois is now available to CH Library cardholders!  To use this free service, you may go to "Museum Pass Programs," click on the Explore More Illinois link, choose from a variety of participating museums and attractions throughout Illinois, enter the date(s) you'd like to visit, and check out the deals available.  Some organizations offer free passes, others discounted admission.  The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Chicago Children's Museum and Chicago's DuSable Museum of African American History are just a few of the participants.  So let's go exploring! And don't forget to check out our Museum Adventure Pass Program as well.

Just in time for our upcoming "Reading is a Blast!" Summer Reading Clubs, the library has 2 new space-themed Launchpad devices that can be checked out. Launchpads are pre-loaded tablets that do not need to be connected to the Internet. 

  • Mission Mindpower!
    Ages 5-7, Grades K-2
    Kids will explore the galaxy with games, books, and interactive learning tools that will fill their minds with knowledge about science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

  • The Intergalactic Classroom!
     Ages 3-5, Pre-K to K
    Kids will travel all over the galaxy to learn early science, technology, engineering, art, and math fundamentals against a backdrop of planets, moons, rockets, aliens and more.

CIRCULATION INFORMATION:
 - Launchpads have a 2 week loan period and an overdue fine of $1.00/day if returned past their due date.
 - Launchpads must be returned directly to the Clarendon Hills Public Library and NOT any other library.
 - Launchpads CANNOT be returned in the book drop.
 - Launchpads can only be checked out by CHPL adult card holders.

Launchpads are kept at the Circulation Desk. Please ask staff if you are interested in checking one out.
