Library News

The library is now circulating 3 mobile hotspot devices that will allow CHPL patrons to have Wi/Fi access on the go wherever there is Sprint coverage.  Each hotspot comes with the hotspot device, charger cord with plug, instruction sheet and carrying case. Up to 10 devices can use the hotspot at any one time.  To check out a hotspot, go the library's Front Desk.

Each hotspot:

  • will have a 2 week loan period
  • can only be checked out by Clarendon Hills patrons
  • can only be put on hold by Clarendon Hills patrons
  • has a $1/day overdue fee if returned late
  • must be checked out by an adult
  • must be returned directly to the CHPL library (not other SWAN libraries)
  • cannot be put in the book drop.

Crissy Barnat is the library's new Head of Circulation.  Crissy was previously the Head of Circulation Services at the Eola Road Branch of the Aurora Public Library.  We are thrilled to have her on our staff!  Her desk is right on the Main Level of the library so be sure to stop by and say hello!

chpl card new smallThe library has snazzy new library cards that come as a combo pack that includes a regular card and a key tag card that can fit on a key ring.

Card holders can swap out their old library card free by waiting for when their current card needs to be renewed or they can purchase one of the new cards for $1.00.

Please note that when you get a new library card, you will be getting a new barcode number.

If you prefer your existing card (and existing barcode), you're welcome to keep using it. Hope to see you soon!

You can now have 10 items checked out and 10 items on hold at a time when using the library's Media on Demand service. The limit used to be 5 items checked out and 5 items on hold.  So enjoy checking out more ebooks, eaudiobooks and streaming video than ever before!
